God did not want 9 year old girls to be raped by their fathers and in particular, God did not want fathers to effectively kill their daughters, 9 months later, by the results of the rape.
Why is the father not excommunicated for attempted murder? That is what it is. A nine year old girl cannot carry twins to full term without terrible risk to her own life.
how can the vatican excommunicate a 9 year old girl, who aborts, to save her own life?
She is still an innocent child. Allow her to have as much innocence as is left to her?
Is the church saying that it is better for a 9 year old to die, and potentially the two babies too, rather than abort the product of rape and incest? That is the effect of excommunication.
What sort of life would these twins have, knowing that they were the result of incest and rape and that their birth caused the death of their 9 year old mother?
How can the church excommunicate the persons who decide to prefer to save the life of the innocent 9 year old child over two unborn children (who may never be born, if the mother's life is not saved) ... .and particularly not when not also excommunicating the father who put her in this position - thereby condemning her to a) excommunication or b) potential death herself. Isn't that enough to justify his own excommunication?
I don't see how the mother and doctors can be excommunicated, and not the father who caused this situation in the first place.
She's only 9, for god's sake show some mercy.
